Feeling Inspired

Lately I have been feeling so inspired. Maybe because I'm embracing my passion for decorating and design or maybe just because I am filled with so many ideas that they are practically seeping out of my veins, but today I am feeling very grateful for it. I have been devoting a good amount of time into doing something special for my mom...something that she usually doesn't do for herself (because she is always doing and giving to others). I have been re-decorating her room for her. About 2 years ago, she re-carpeted and added molding and a great paint color to the 3 bedrooms in her home but basically left it at that. Wellll..I decided its time for a change and such a wonderful person deserves an equally wonderful bedroom sanctuary.

As I have gotten deeper and deeper into this project it has proven that sometimes too many ideas can crowd the brain and not allow me to focus correctly. Today I came across photos of Melissa Warner's apartment (featured in House Beautiful 2010 May issue) while searching for a solution for ugly closet doors..and low and behold it was exactly what I needed. I am using the same color scheme in my Mom's room. Loving all of her accessorizing and the beautiful linen headboard. Maybe her apartment will inspire you too?

Trend Watcher: Shades of Blue

Blue is completely regal. I have always been attracted to the color blue, whether it be turquoise, electric, or navy...it always, to me, felt like a calming color that was just the right amount of daring yet still considered safe--not too out there. Well guess what! The patterns and paint I have come across lately are exactly the opposite. Totally out there, push the envelope beautiful blue designs and textiles.





High gloss midnight blue walls? Yes, please!





Don't these patterns and wallpapers look better in shades of blue?

New Edition of RUE!

I was thrilled when I discovered that today RUE Magazine released their March/April issue. SO many amazing rooms, photography styling, and designers are featured. It is (almost) overwhelmingly glorious.

I think I am going to have to re-read each section again, because, well I was just too excited while paging through and had to see what was next. However, one specific feature did truly dazzle me. Bailey McCarthy (Peppermint Bliss) and interior designer for Quin B Studio's home put me at a dead stop and I HAD to read every detail about this traditionally tasetful home with a side of flare. You must go check it out for yourself..trust me, you wont be sorry.

Another great sneak peak: KATE SPADE BEDDING :)


Kate Spade has always been a staple designer in my eyes. Over the years, I have somewhat let her fall off my radar- and what a shame that is. It wasn't until recently when I received the most amazing ring, totally blinged out and exactly my style from two of my best friends that I decided to never let it happen again. I am so anxious to see what her home collection has in store for us.




Ps. I might add that I am absolutely loving the new website. Bright and firey yellow and eye catching pops of pink. Bravo!

Home Tour Hunting

I love Apartment Therapy. Why, you might ask? Because they allow me to browse across numerous home tours and gather so many inspirational ideas. So many different styles, designs, and detail each different in their own way. It is clear that the individual homes featured on Apartment Therapy have been designed and decorated out of true labor and love.

I am seriously in LOVE with that coffee table! It really anchors the room and provides a great focal point. The large clock is almost industrial looking.

I am currently loving C. Bell furnishings. Owned and operated out of West Palm Beach, Flordia it is a contemporary and 20th century fun-loving and extremely bright option for any and all furnishing desires. It truly captures Flordia's culture and original flair and Christine Bell certainly upholds her motto "furnishing life" by providing a great selection for all design pallets.

Swooning Over This Mauve Madrid Apartment

I found this ultrachic Madrid apartment through House of Turquoise. I honestly can picture myself living in a space similar to this, I am attracted to the different textures and colors that you wouldn't naturally find in one single space. The mauve color is SO refreshing and I especially enjoy all the pops of brass. It gives this room a classic traditional type feel and reminds me of some accents my grandmother still owns today.
