Change is Inevitable...

But no one ever said dealing with change is easy, did they? As most of you know my roommates and I had been searching our city for an adequate rental, and I am proud to say we finally found one a little over a week ago! *sigh of relief* However, moving into the new place proves to be yet another difficult task. Positive vibes will be appreciated tomorrow as we leave the place we've made our home (some would say I am in denial) and move on to the next. Of course updates on twitter and Instagram (@somethingbrue) will be posted during our journey. Until then, I apologize for being sligtly MIA - we all know life gets crazy sometimes! Hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend.

My Bags are Packed & I'm Ready To Go

Woo Hoo! The weekend has *finally* feels as if this week lasted an entire lifetime. Today I will set off on a road trip down to Rocky Point, Mexico. As most of you know Phoenix is veryyyy close to the Mexico border...just a quick 4 hour drive and you have reached the beach! A quaint little town that manages to offer a whole lot of fun! The Weather is expected to be in the high 70's which is amazing. I cannot wait to get there! What are your plans for Memorial Day Weekend? Do you have any vacation Traditions that you partake in every year?

Here is whats packed in my beach bag this time....

Summer a la mode

Here in AZ we are fortunate enough to have about 360 days of sunshine per year. Personally, I love the sunshine...yes, of course I appreciate a rainy day here and there but I am the MOST happy when the skies are blue and the sun is shining brightly. Fortunately that means all of us Arizonians get a lot of use out of our sunglasses (and hats, too!) I have been swooning over these Karen Walker shades for some time now and of course I love sharing my materialistic obsessions with you all. I think they would be absolutely perfect for my upcoming Memorial Day Weekend vacay to Mexico, don't you? Oh and when paired with a floppy tan hat and a neon free people ruffle top - can you say in-love?

What are you dreaming of wearing for the upcoming holiday weekend?

A Very Palm Springs Party

Vacations have been on the brain A LOT lately. The loads of graduation pictures flooding the internet, the scent of summer in the air, and mostly the fact that Memorial Day is this weekend are all to blame. Celebration and relaxation seem to be all around me - and I wouldn't have it any other way! Today I stumbled across this this fantastic Palm Springs fete over at 100 Layer Cake. How chic does the monochromatic black white and gold look in some un-expected patterns and textures? This is a birthday celebration I could picture myself planning and, of course, the location speaks entirely for itself. This theme and all the little details are directly in tune with my preferred aesthetic as of late. Want to know my favorite part? You guessed it! Those AMAZING gold flamingos...obsessed!

MAXImum Basics

Whew! What a weekend this was...although, life would be boring any other way, right? I have found myself resorting to Maxi dresses as my early summer staple (most notably my black smocked style that I found for $12.99). Dressing up a basic dress with some bold earrings, a matching clutch, and an effortless hair style is what I consider comfy-chic!

Below is what I wore to a wonderful brunch at La Grande Orange with miss Kat of With Love From, Kat while she was in town. A special thanks to her for snapping these pics after our mini-date!

Good Things Come

Of course everyone has heard the saying "Good things come to those who wait." I agree...but feel more partial to the quote below. It's right in line with my life right now. Me and my two roommates have been dancing the rental tango for the past three weeks since we learned our landlord was moving back into our current apartment. Needless to say its been exhausting, frustrating, and very time consuming month so far. All we can do it cross our fingers, eyes, and toes that our perfect gem will pop up. Here's to hope and keeping a positive attitude :) Happy Friday friends!

It's Becoming A Problem

I have always loved desserts and treats. Although, recently I've become obsessed - I honestly can't go a night without having some sort of sugar! You know, candy {preferably skittles} or gummies or even chocolate milk of any kind. I envy those who "don't like sweets" or have abstained from them for one reason or another....DAMN YOU! For those of us who don't have such luxuries aka no will power whatsoever...I know you will be thanking me for my post today!

I love Sarah Yates equally as much as I lover her blog House In The Hills, and if you must know this is where I found these amazing little treats. Behold....

Salted - Bannanna - Peanut Butter - Chocolate - Treats

My mouth is watering just looking at these snapshots. I cannot wait to make these! Be warned, they are not recommended for the impulsive-sweeter eater...they have to be frozen for a good amount of time in order to harden. Luckily I plan to use the wait time to hit the gym before completely scarfing these little bites down. ;)

See Sarah's recipe and instructions here. Enjoy! PS -It's almost Friday

Yes to THIS dress

Can you even believe how stunning this dress is? Worn by Chiara from The Blonde Salad for her amazing 25th birthday celebration - this dress, and her rightfully stole the show. Doesn't this tropical number make you want to sail off to an island under the sun? I know thats exactly what comes to my mind when I glance at this funky yellow number. And those shoes...I die! Metallic green is simply amazing. Hopefully this brightened up your Tuesday, too!

Grocery Store Beauty

I will admit it. I sometimes impulse buy. Like tonight, I went into the grocery store looking for some lunch items for the week and I was immediately distracted by the pink and white streamers and 40% Off signs that were radiating from the beauty isle. (It was at Albertsons for those of you who are local - super cheap deals so make sure to check it out!)

Naturally, I had to take a the isle I typically pass right by on any other day. But today was different, there was a sale. I managed to find myself one thing I actually did need (my Revlon eye pen has FINALLY died after almost a year, believe it or not) and two that were just for my own satisfaction. I must say, it turned out to be a great night and I'm super pumped about my new purchases!

1. Revlon "Minted" Nail Enamel |was $6.29| Paid $3.77|

2. Revlon Colorstay Eye Pen |was $10.49 | Paid $6.29| <--Hands down THE BEST eyeliner I've ever had. Highly recommend.

3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick "Siren" |was $9.49 | Paid $5.69| <-- A GORG orangey red. Can't wait to rock it!

Its all In The Details

One thing I look forward to every month is reading the latest edition of Rue Magazine. It's just pure love, if you ask me...and much of that love can be felt all the way down to the very details of each page. I feel the rue-ish presence most prominently through the way they style and capture photographs. These are some of my favorite details from the May issue. Don't they just inspire you to make your home feel so PERFECTLY put together?

Heres to hoping for one day where...

All staplers will glitter in gold

Your home stash of bubbly is always chilled (for that last-minute celebration)

every bold entry way was complete with a ceramic great dane

AND all puzzles were vibrantly red and heart shaped

Dipped Dyed Tips

The dipped tips trend and "hair chalk" has been swarming the inter-webs for quite some time now and at first I wasn't sure how I felt about it. However, after the Arizona Blogger Conference I definitely think my mind was changed. A local salon team was sampling out these funky streaks by Kevin Murphy and I HAD to have one, especially because of the neon orangie pink color. I loved rocking it for the remainder of the night - it felt so edgy and out of my character. When all was said and done it simply washed out but I came away with a new liking for dipped neon tips! Have you tried it? How do you feel about this trend and the flavor range of colors?

Mad Hatter

Although the Kentucky Derby has come and gone, I can't shake my obsession with hats for summer. I simply adore every way shape and form. Whether they are large and floppy, rounded and bright, or even eyelet these make a great accessory for any summer ensemble. Naturally, we know summer hats act as fashion flare for a swimsuit and coverup (with added SPF protection), but I happen to like them even better for everyday summer wear! Just throw on a pair of colored denim cutoffs and a light blouse and you are perfectly summer-chic. Being in the Arizona heat can be daunting...but it just might be bearable this year if I can snag a cute summer hat like some of these below!

Quite The Floral Fiesta

What a crazy weekend it was. So many fun activities piled into a few short days makes for a very very long Monday. I hope everyone had equally as much fun and enjoyed all the festivities!

The derby winner ironically named "I'll have another" fit seamlessly into the theme of the entire weekend, and if you were out celebrating "Cinco de Derby" know why :) I decided to keep it light and simple with my outfit...flowery and feminine for the derby yet short and summery for Cinco de Mayo!

Here's to hoping your Monday moves swiftly! And PS - My new darker do's debut outfit post (I'm getting more and more used to it as the days go by)
